Zephaniah 3:17 – “The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.”

Why is it right to sing, shout, dance and leap? Acts of celebration get repeated mention in the psalmists descriptions of how we approach God. The reason — God is a God to celebrate. He rejoices over us with singing (Zeph. 3:17), so He wants us to rejoice in Him with singing. When we give to Him what He gives to us, we step further into relationship with Him, deepening our heart-connection.

Genesis 22:2 – “And He said, “Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering.”

Like Abraham we do not become overly possessive of anything in the temporary realm. Our “Isaacs,” we will freely give back to God because we know that the resurrection will give them back to us for eternity.

“The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority (initiative); but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.” – John 14:10

There is a better fast to go on than a fast from food! We can learn to fast from our own thoughts and opinions. Many times we don’t hear God because our minds are too full of our own thoughts. Jesus is our example. He lived a perpetual fast from His own thoughts and opinions. He emphasized this truth continually.

AFFIRMATIONS

I think outside myself and inside the Word — and let Jesus bless the world through me.

As I rest in His victory I rule in the midst of my enemies.

Since Christ is in me I am upheld by the Spirit of God.
